Day 1: Arrive in Rome. Self-guided walking tour followed by classic Roman dinner at Da Fortunato al Pantheon and gelato at nearby Ciampini.
Day 2: Breakfast before guided tour of the Roman Forum. Climb the Spanish Steps, check out the oculus of the Pantheon, or toss a coin over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain. Dinner at Il Cuore di Napoli to sample the typical dishes of Naples.
Day 3: Optional guided tour of the Vatican Museum and St Peter’s Basilica or free time to explore before afternoon departure to Florence (rail transportation included). Indulge in aperitivo culture at Kitsch, where the purchase of a cocktail includes a buffet of Tuscan fare.
Day 4: Breakfast before guided tour of the Uffizi museum. Takeaway sandwiches at All’Antico Vinaio (try the porchetta if they offer it) and delicious gelato at Vivoli. Free afternoon to explore or climb to Piazzale Michelangiolo. Dinner at Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco for divine wild boar ragu over pasta or polenta.
Day 5: Full day to explore the Florence food scene. Work up an appetite exploring the Accademia museum or Pitti Palace before feasting at one of the many stalls at the Mercato Centrale. Free afternoon before dinner at Trattoria Mario for bistecca alla fiorentina, the city’s namesake dish. Optional afternoon trip to Pisa (rail transportation not included). Take a classic “holding up the Leaning Tower picture” before dinner at Il Peperoncino and gelato at De’ Coltelli, the best in the city.
Day 6: Early morning departure to Venice. Free afternoon to explore the city (Basilica San Marco, Rialto Bridge, Doge’s Palace) followed by dinner at Trattoria Alla Rivetta for spaghetti al nero di seppia.
Day 7: Breakfast followed by half day tour of Venetian islands of Murano, Burano, and Torcello. Dinner at Riviera for fresh seafood along the Grand Canal and gelato at Suso Gelatoteca.
Day 8: Breakfast and free time before transportation to Venice airport.
