Whether you are looking to take in the foliage of Maine, or escape the chill for a tropical vacation, fall can be a beautiful time to travel. Because of this (along with a certain turkey-centric holiday), it is a very busy time with high fares, crowded airports, and stressed out travelers. We are here to help you find the best times in the fall to make your plans.

According to flight search data conducted by Google Flights, the busiest time of the season, unsurprisingly, is around the Thanksgiving holiday. Keeping the holiday’s date – Nov. 23 – in mind, Google Flights has predicted the busiest travel days to be Friday, Nov. 17 (the Friday before Thanksgiving), Wednesday, Nov. 22 (the day before Thanksgiving), and Sunday, Nov. 26 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving).

So when is the best time to travel? If you are planning to get to your out-of-town festivities a bit early, leaving on Saturday, Nov. 18 or Tuesday, Nov. 21 may be your best bet. To skip the return traffic, make your way home on Saturday, Nov. 25, or Monday, Nov. 27.

Just because these dates may be a little lighter in airport congestion than the busiest of the season, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect to wait on longer than average security lines. Give yourself a little extra time to make sure you don’t miss your flight. Consider departing from alternate airports in your area for reduced wait times.

Because it is getting later into the month of October, prices and availability for flights will only become less desirable as time goes on. Contact a TomFlies.com consultant today to make your busy season travel as seamless as possible! #YourWorldBetter
