Take the iconic American road trip you’ve always dreamed of.

Arizona – the American Soutwhest

Start your day at sunrise with a stroll to Yavapai Point. The postcard-like panorama is the view you’ve dreamed of gazing at your whole life. Make your way east to Mather Point for more magnificent Grand Canyon views, and be sure to drink plenty of water and take your time – you’re over 7,000 feet above sea level.

Take a quick ride on the Desert View Drive (Hwy 64) to the next breathtaking viewpoint. The Grandview Point offers more sweeping views of the Grand Canyon’s rugged wilderness.

Further down the road, at the Desert View Watchtower, the majestic canyon setting becomes a serene watercolor palette. Watch the turquoise-blue Colorado River wind through the canyon floor like it’s been doing for millions of years.

Journey just 2 hours and 25 minutes north to a town that’s home to some of Arizona’s best kept secrets. Page, Arizona is the next must-do destination on your Southwest road trip adventure. See an unforgettable sunrise, sunset or both over Horseshoe Bend. It’s the most dramatic curve of the Colorado River, and you can easily get to it after a 1.2-mile walk from the parking lot to the red rock rim.

Next, you’ll want to head to Upper Antelope Canyon for a guided tour of the most beautifully surreal place. The only way into this narrow slot canyon is with a Navajo tour guide. And trust us, you wouldn’t want it any other way. They know all the great angles for photo ops and the stories they tell make this picture perfect place come to life. Your tour starts with a quick off-roading adventure en route to the entrance of Antelope Canyon.

Lake Powell is the land of leisurely activities, so if there’s anywhere you’d like to take a break from the road and just chill, this is the place to do it. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, camping, kayaking, boating, hiking, or just relaxing in the sun.

Next stop – Monument Valley! This Navajo Tribal Park straddles the state lines of Arizona and Utah. Just over two hours northeast of Page, you’ll find this otherworldly land to be familiar and iconic. This vast valley has been the backdrop to countless commercials, Old Western movies, and more recent flicks like “Mission Impossible II,” “Forest Gump,” “Cars,” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” to name a few.

A 17-mile unpaved scenic drive loops around some of the most memorable mesas, buttes, and spires the land has to offer, but the truly otherworldly wonders are hidden deep within the valley and only accessible with a Navajo tour guide. Explore the red sand desert that cradles towering red rock formations and fascinating wildlife.

If the road is still calling you and you feel like exploring another incredible National Park, head about 190 miles south to Holbrook, Arizona. Here you’ll find Petrified Forest National Park, one of the Great American Southwest’s hidden gems. Hike the Blue Mesa trail to see the beautiful badlands up close and personal.

Stroll through the Jasper Forest section to find multi-million-year-old logs that have crystallized into colorful stones that are smooth as glass. And while you’re cruising the 27-mile scenic drive, you won’t want to miss the stunning scenery of Arizona’s Painted Desert.

On your way back to Flagstaff, be sure to make a pitstop on good old Route 66 to experience some classic Americana. A tiny town called Winslow will be glad to welcome you at its “Standin’ on the Corner” Eagles band tribute.
